1)    From within your Gmail account, open the e-mail message you would like to view the IP address.
2)    Beside the Reply link (upper right portion of the message), select the drop down arrow.
3)    Select “Show Original
4)    Look for the “Received: from” text. A great shortcut is to use CTRL +F keys which will allow you to search within your browser
5)    Keep searching until you the last “Received: from” text (this will be the furthest down the page. Since e-mail can be delivered through multiple servers, there could be more than 1 server or “Received: from” IP address.

To take this one step further and determine the location of the IP address, copy the IP address from your “Received: from” text.  ip2location offers a free service where you can determine the location of the IP address, thus the original e-mail server.

Paste or type the IP address in ip2location’s IP located and you will have the location and with some luck, a name associated with the location.
