Here’s a nifty Gmail trick: There is a little known option you can enable within Gmail which will detect that you forgot to attach a document. It will help prevent you from accidentally sending messages without the relevant attachments.

It’s easy to enable:
  1. From you Gmail account, click on the “Settings” link
  2. Click on the “Labs” link
  3. Enable the “Forgotten Attachment Detector” setting
  4. Click on the “Save Changes” button.
