How to Reset the Windows XP Administrator Password
Please note: This is for the advanced Widows user! Proceed at your own risk.
1) Insert your Windows XP Setup CD and boot your computer.
2) Proceed past the welcome screen and End User License Agreement
3) You will have the option to install XP again, or “Repair your existing Windows XP installation“. Press “R” to choose repair.
4) Let the repair process copy any necessary files.
5) The system will restart. Please ensure you DO NOT press a key when you see “Press any key to continue…”
6) Please watch carefully for the message “Installing Devices”, at which point hit the SHIFT key + F10 key.
7) A command prompt will open. Type nusrmgr.cpl followed by the ENTER key.
8) The “User Accounts” window opens which will now allow you to reset the local Administrator account.
