The People Column is used by the Kanban View to assign tasks and organize your tasks according to their labels in the Status Column. Let’s consider both of those columns when designing the board.
6. Cards
Looking for a convenient place to examine all of your critical item information? Monday has the solution for you. It has developed the Cards View, which enables you to view all of your relevant item characteristics in a single, gallery-like visual display in which each card can be viewed separately.
7. Files
Files is an older version of Files Gallery. Though you can use the files gallery view from upgraded views, the files option still exists for those who prefer to use it. The files appear in a google drive or gallery format for a simple interface.
Dashboard Views
1. Chart
Suppose you need to study the tasks or data on one or more boards to monitor your projects’ development or your team members’ performance as they complete their tasks. In that case, you may exhibit different board reports using Chart View and Widget to improve workflow. To see the analytics component of your workflow, view the efficiency with which your team members do their jobs, their progression over time, and other factors.
2. Calendar
You must have some great boards with all you’re working on, we bet. Although they are comprehensive, well-organized, and informative, you can still feel a little overwhelmed when you scan and examine everything each day. Good news: you no longer have to. The Calendar View is a new board view that organizes your board by the date and displays your items in a visually appealing calendar.
Depending on your preferences, the Calendar View & Widget displays the dates from your items in calendar mode depending on the month, week, and day. You can see all you have coming up in one glance without becoming distracted by the things that can wait a bit longer.
3. Gantt
Want to employ additional dynamic features to improve your workflow and simplify complicated projects? Here at Monday.com, we adore utilizing Gantt charts to make our projects come to life! The Gantt chart is adaptable and responsive to the ebbs and flows of the progress of your project.
Let’s explore how to use it as a board view or a widget on a dashboard together! The Gantt view converts your board’s data into a helpful Gantt chart. To assist you in getting a clear picture of your project and the tasks involved, this view is adaptable, responsive, and clearly illustrates milestones and dependencies between things.
4. Numbers
Want to quickly view and add up the numbers in all of your Numbers Columns across all boards? Are you overseeing various boards’ budgets and need to know how much each project will cost in total? You may accomplish this with the use of our Numbers Widget in Dashboards! Under “More settings options,” you can modify your outcome according to your needs.
Whether you want to show the total, the average or a specific currency is up to you. The Numbers Widget is excellent for getting a broad idea of how projects are doing financially and for keeping track of total costs or the number of different boards in one spot. Make all of your information easily accessible and arranged by using as many widgets as you like.
5. Workload
Before you start adding the workload widget, make sure your boards have the necessary columns in order to track the workload of your team members. The usual columns to be added are:
- People column
- A timeframe or a date column
As an alternative, you can use a status or dropdown column to measure any other resources, such as conference rooms, manufacturing equipment, hand tools, cameras, and more. The weekend is an additional crucial factor to take into account, it can either be included in the working days total or excluded.
6. Battery
This widget helps you to track the overall status of all your project or tasks and performances in a battery-themed visual representation. What information your battery widget displays can be customized. You can choose which status column(s) the widget should display if the boards you have chosen have more than one. If you want to monitor a certain stage of your project, this comes handy! If applicable, you can specify the required weight for your project to track.
Other Notable Features to Views
1. Add Favourites
You can utilize this feature to have your favorite and most frequently used boards appear at the top of your Workspaces list for quick, simple access! It’s quite handy for prioritizing and staying focused on the task at hand. A board, dashboard, or workdoc can also be favorited by right-clicking on its title in your account’s left pane and selecting “Add to favorites” from the resulting menu.
Monday.com provides a feature to mark your favorite view by adding them to your favorite list. Once you mark your favorite it will start to appear at the beginning of your views section for easy access.
2. Set Default View
Board owners have the option to specify a default view for all board viewers and users. To make a view your default, open the three-dot menu next to the name of the view you want to use (it must first be added to your board). Then, as shown below, click “Set as board default.”
Following these steps with a different view, including the Main Table view, allows you to change the default at any time.
3. Split screen mode
You can check a view in split screen mode with the Main Table view beneath it. To do so, select “Settings” from the three-dot menu (More options) situated in the top right corner of your specific view. Then, select “Display type” and then “Split Mode.” When in full-screen mode, you can see this view in split-screen mode with the Main Table view below it:
The above-mentioned is a default method to enable split-screen but for the Kanban view, the split-screen can be enabled even more easily. To do that, select the “Settings” option on the top right corner, scroll down and you can see the split screen option. Just click that and ta-da it is enabled easily like the image shown below:
4. Theme View
Monday.com allows its users to view the platform in three different theme modes based on their user preferences. This feature is very convenient for users who prefer to switch between light and dark mode when required.
To change your account’s display theme, click on your profile picture icon in the bottom left corner of your screen, hover over “Change theme,” and then select the theme of your choosing. The monday.com platform is configured to use light mode by default.
On a dark blue background, light-colored text, icons, and graphic elements are used in the dark color scheme. Colors are more brilliant, and everything appears more streamlined, making it slightly easier on the eyes.
Monday.com designed night mode for all dark mode fans yearning for an even darker theme. You can lessen eye strain and operate more easily in low-light conditions by increasing the contrast between the colors on your screen and the darker backdrop.
Choosing Your Favourite Board View
The different types of views on monday.com come with their strengths and weaknesses. They all have something that you can use, but depending on your needs some views might not be ideal for your personal preference.
For example, a workboard view is good for your personal tasks, but not for showing off your company’s progress. The first view that you should choose for yourself is a standard view since it’s what everyone can access.
Almost all boards have a standard view, but a personalized one gives an edge to the users.
It is best to decide on a board view that you like the most before starting to create tasks. If you’re not sure which board view is best for you, you can always try them out and go back to the most favorite one, or you can do a trial-and-error approach where you create a board that has similarities to what you do most and then sees what tasks you can do in that view.
