Brief About Each Tier of ClickUp
ClickUp uses a hierarchy of tiers to arrange the projects for your workspace. These are the levels of this hierarchy:
- Teams
- Spaces
- Projects
- Lists
- Tasks
- Subtasks
- Goals
These layers fall into the most specialized subtasks after starting out quite broadly with teams.
We will further go into detail about each of these tiers and what each one does.
1. Teams
ClickUp teams shouldn’t be considered “teams” in the conventional sense. Businesses are divided into many departmental teams, such as marketing, finance, development, etc. In ClickUp, an entire company is referred to as a “team.” Essentially, this applies to every division of your company.
2. Spaces
Your company’s many business departments will work autonomously in these spaces. The same team operates in all spaces. Any number of spots may be a part of your team. You may have separate sections for marketing, software development, and quality assurance if you use ClickUp to manage your entire organization. Many organizations’ teams will only have one open spot.
3. Projects
Once more, the term “project” can be a little deceptive. The projects tier in ClickUp is more of a classification of projects than actual examples of projects. Let’s take the example of our ClickUp app’s project management area. We would be working on web, API, and mobile software development projects. We would observe distinct examples of various project kinds within each of these projects.
4. Lists
Lists are what we have historically thought of as “projects,” as was previously indicated. They organize several activities that assist us with crossing items off of that list. Under a single project, ClickUp groups list that are similar to one another. Although the idea may appear complex at first, it will become clear as you use ClickUp. Lists can include descriptions, attachments, and start and end dates. Although the tasks they oversee have assignees, they do not.
5. Tasks and Subtasks
Tasks are what we typically consider to be tasks. They are actions that, when taken, advance us toward finishing the related project. Even linked subtasks are possible for ClickUp tasks. To accomplish their parent job, users must complete subtasks. Consider subtasks as a means to merely divide a task into ever more detailed parts.
6. Goals
For the sole purpose of defining, managing, and attaining goals, ClickUp offers dedicated tools. ClickUp can automatically track goal progress inside the platform by associating particular tasks with goals. In actuality, the percentage related to project completion will be shown by ClickUp. This functionality is essential for teams who operate in sprints or just want to keep tabs on and report on team and project progress quickly.
