How to Add a Watermark in PowerPoint?
It takes a couple of additional steps to add a watermark in PowerPoint. You can add text watermarks of different types to the existing slides, or you can convert pictures into watermarks and insert them into PowerPoint slides.
Add Watermark to All the PowerPoint Slides
You can easily add a watermark to PowerPoint slides using the Slide Master option.
- To add a watermark, first, open Powerpoint.
- Now, navigate to View, and under the Master Views section, click on Slide Master.
- Once you have switched to the Slide Master pane, scroll to the master slide which you’ll find on the top of the slide thumbnail pane.
- Navigate to the Insert tab and under the Text section, click on Text Box.
- You will notice the mouse pointer change to a sword-like cursor. Left-click and draw the text box in the desired place. In this case, let us choose to draw the text box in the bottom corner of the page.
- Type in the text and change the font size, color, and font style as per your preference. Use the anchor points to move or resize the textbox. For additional customizations, click on the Shape Format tab where you can add color fill, outline, effects, and change the alignment of the text.
- Now, exit the Slide Master view by navigating to the Slide Master tab and clicking on Close Master View.
Once you exit the Slide Master View, you can see the text appear as a watermark on all the slides in the PowerPoint presentation. You will notice that you can not make any change or edit to the watermarked text.

After adding the watermark, there might be some instances where you might have to remove the added watermark from the PowerPoint slides.

Add Watermark to Images
In some cases, you might need to convert the image to a watermark and add them to the PowerPoint slides. To make the image a watermark, you’d first need to add the watermark, format it, group it, and then save the image to use in all the slides.
Let us start with inserting the image.
- First, open a PowerPoint and go to a new slide.
- Then, navigate to the Insert tab. Under the Images section, click on the dropdown from Pictures. You can either choose to add the images from your local device, stock images, or online pictures.
- Browse and select the image and click on Insert.
- You can then move, resize, and place the image in the required place. For additional customizations, click on the Picture Format option to add the frame, change the border, add effects, and align the picture.
- Now, navigate to Insert. And this time, click on the dropdown from WordArt and choose a design. In case you don’t want a WordArt, you can use the textbox and add the text.
- Change the font style, size, and other aspects of the text as you see fit. Resize and position the text near to or on the image.
- Again, navigate to the Picture Format tab to edit the color fill, transparency, and other text effects depending on your preference.
- Now, hold Ctrl and select both the text and the image.
- Then, navigate to the Picture Format main menu ribbon and under the Arrange section, click on the dropdown from Group and click on Group.
- After grouping, right-click on the image and click on Save as Picture.
- Now, save the picture in any of the local drives.
You can now use the image as a watermark in any of your PowerPoint slides using the above-mentioned method. Open the Slide Master, navigate to the master slide, and insert the image or text as a watermark to appear on all the pages.
